Frequently Asked Questions

What is a CableMaster and why do I need one?

The CableMaster is an automated shore power cable handling system. It stores your heavy 50A or 100A shore power cable inside the boat and extends/retracts it with the push of a button or key fob remote. No more wrestling heavy cables on the dock — especially valuable for larger vessels with 100A service.

Can you install a CableMaster on my existing boat?

Yes. Retrofit installations are common. We assess your lazarette or cable locker space, determine the right model (CM-4 through CM-9), and handle the complete installation including electrical connections, mounting, chrome hawsepipe fitting, and cable routing.

What's the difference between CM Series and CR Series CableMasters?

The CM Series uses no slip rings, offers fully automatic powered extension and retraction, unlimited cable length, and key fob remote control. The CR Series is a classic reel design with manual pull-out and motorized retraction — more compact and budget-friendly but still eliminates the heavy lifting.

What Glendinning engine controls are compatible with my engines?

Glendinning Complete Controls work with virtually any marine propulsion system — CAT, Cummins, Yanmar, Volvo, Detroit, MAN, John Deere, Mercruiser, and more. They interface with electronic and mechanical engines, inboards, outboards, sterndrives, saildrives, and waterjets.

What is the ProPilot joystick system?

ProPilot is Glendinning's integrated joystick docking system. It provides full control of engines and thrusters from a single joystick for precise low-speed maneuvering and docking. The ProPilot-S variant is designed specifically for sailboats.

How does the Automatic Synchronizer work?

The Glendinning Synchronizer automatically adjusts the slave engine speed to match the master engine — eliminating vibration and noise from mismatched RPMs. It allows single-lever control of both engines. Over 25,000 units installed worldwide with drive adapters for all major engine brands.

How often should CableMaster systems be serviced?

We recommend annual inspection including motor check, cable condition assessment, drum mechanism lubrication, switch testing, and electrical connection verification. Vessels in heavy use or salt spray environments should be checked every 6 months.

My CableMaster won't retract — can you fix it?

Yes. Common issues include worn motor brushes, corroded switches, cable binding, or drum mechanism wear. We diagnose and repair all CableMaster models and stock common replacement parts.

Do you service Glendinning products on vessels outside Fort Myers?

We serve all of Southwest Florida — Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Naples, Fort Myers Beach, Punta Gorda, Sanibel, Marco Island, Bonita Springs, and surrounding areas. For larger projects we travel throughout Florida.
