Inspect the load path

We look beyond the visible wire or line to terminals, chainplates, turnbuckles, tangs, spreaders, mast hardware, deck structure, and operating geometry.

Findings are separated into safety-critical, serviceable, monitor, and upgrade items so the owner can plan the work logically.

Fabricate, service, or replace correctly

Work may include custom 1×19 stainless wire assemblies, swaged terminals, custom rope splicing, furlers, adjustable backstays, winches, mast hardware, tuning, and coordinated crane support.

The completed system is aligned, tensioned, loaded, and operated as appropriate, with follow-up checks recommended after settling or passage use.

Inspect annually, before offshore passages, after severe weather or an unusual load event, and whenever corrosion, broken strands, cracked fittings, movement, distortion, or water intrusion is observed. Replacement decisions depend on condition, age, material, use, and manufacturer guidance.

Do you service both standing and running rigging?+

Yes. AMS Rigging covers standing rigging, terminals, chainplates, tuning, running rigging, line selection, splicing, routing, furlers, winches, blocks, travelers, clutches, masts, spars, and related deck hardware.

Can you fabricate custom standing and running rigging?+

Yes. AMS Rigging fabricates custom 1×19 stainless standing-rigging wire assemblies with swaged terminals and provides custom rope splicing for halyards, sheets, control lines, and other running-rigging applications. Material, diameter, terminal, and line construction are selected for the vessel and load path.

Can you troubleshoot a hard-to-operate furler?+

Yes. A difficult furler can involve halyard angle or tension, foil alignment, bearings, drum loading, line lead, stay tension, swivel condition, corrosion, sail shape, or installation geometry. The complete system should be evaluated before parts are ordered.

Do mast projects require a boatyard or crane?+

Some inspections and repairs can be performed aloft or at the dock. Stepping, unstepping, major spar work, and structural projects require coordinated lifting equipment, yard access, weather planning, and a defined work sequence.

Do you provide rigging inspections for charter vessels seeking a USCG Certificate of Inspection?+

Yes. AMS Rigging provides third-party rigging inspections, written reports, maintenance documentation, repair consulting, and corrective rigging work for charter sailing vessels in support of their USCG Certificate of Inspection process. Official vessel inspection and certificate decisions remain with the attending Coast Guard Marine Inspector and Officer in Charge, Marine Inspection.
