A high-pressure shutdown often means the system cannot reject heat. On seawater-cooled marine A/C equipment, common causes include a blocked strainer, closed seacock, air-locked or weak pump, restricted hose, fouled condenser, or inadequate overboard discharge. Confirm visible water flow and stop repeatedly resetting the fault; the installed model and fault history should guide the diagnosis.
Start with the conditions the system needs to work: steady seawater discharge, clean return-air filter, unobstructed supply and return ducts, correct thermostat settings, and stable electrical power. Restricted water or airflow is common, but controls, sensors, refrigerant leaks, or compressor faults can produce similar symptoms. Refrigerant should not be added until proper measurements confirm a leak or charge problem.
Evaporator ice commonly follows inadequate airflow from a dirty filter, blocked return grille, crushed duct, closed outlet, or blower problem. Shut the system down and allow the ice to melt without chipping it from the coil. If airflow is clear and icing returns, the controls, temperature sensor, refrigerant circuit, and equipment-specific settings need professional testing.
Condensate can overflow when a drain hose is blocked, kinked, sagging, or improperly routed, or when the pan is dirty or the unit is not draining correctly. Loose seawater hose connections can create a different and more urgent leak. Turn the equipment off if water is near electrical components, identify whether the water is condensate or seawater, and correct the source before restarting.
Check supply voltage at the refrigeration module, condenser airflow or seawater flow where fitted, ventilation around the condensing unit, thermostat or sensor condition, and the door gasket. A running compressor does not automatically mean the system needs refrigerant; if the charge is low, the leak should be located and repaired before recharging.

August heat, compressor running, box not holding. That is not a reason to add gas. Refrigerant is a closed charge. If it is actually low, there is a leak. Check voltage at the module, not the battery post. Confirm the condenser fan is moving air. Brush the fins. On a water-cooled unit: seacock open, strainer clean, water coming out. Dollar-bill the gasket. Do not use an automotive R-134a can. If power, air, and the seal are honest and the box still will not pull down, call Accumar Marine.
