Marine HVAC/Refrigeration Technician

Diagnose, service, and install marine air-conditioning and refrigeration systems aboard power and sailing vessels throughout Southwest Florida.

Fort Myers / Mobile SWFL W-2 · Full-Time · Daily Rate Year-Round

What You Will Do

  • Troubleshoot cooling faults, high-pressure shutdowns, seawater-flow problems, thermostat faults, compressors, pumps, and electrical controls.
  • Service and install self-contained, split-gas, chilled-water, cold-plate, and marine refrigeration equipment.
  • Read wiring diagrams, refrigeration circuits, and manufacturer service information before replacing parts.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, system cleaning, leak checks, and operational testing.
  • Document findings clearly and explain repair options to vessel owners or captains.

Qualifications

  • Practical HVAC or refrigeration diagnostic experience; marine experience is preferred but transferable commercial experience is considered.
  • EPA Section 608 certification is required before independently handling regulated refrigerants; Accumar pays for approved certification training.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for mobile service across Southwest Florida.
  • Ability to work safely aboard customer vessels, including confined machinery spaces when the assignment requires it.
  • Professional communication, accurate job notes, and respect for customer vessels and marina rules.

Experience

Practical HVAC or refrigeration service experience is required for independent technician assignments. Marine-specific training may be provided to a qualified commercial technician.

Education

No specific degree is required. Relevant technical training and demonstrated ability are evaluated for the role.

Schedule and Compensation

Full-time, year-round work. Service operations normally run Monday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with individual schedules coordinated around customer vessel appointments.

This is a W-2, daily-rate position. The actual rate is discussed on the first call and is based on verified experience, certifications, and demonstrated technical skill.
