Marine Electrical Technician

Diagnose, repair, and install marine AC and DC electrical systems aboard power and sailing vessels throughout Southwest Florida.

Fort Myers / Mobile SWFL W-2 · Full-Time · Daily Rate Year-Round

What You Will Do

  • Troubleshoot battery banks, charging systems, alternators, inverters, shore power, distribution panels, and circuit protection.
  • Measure voltage drop, current draw, insulation condition, and grounding or bonding performance with appropriate test equipment.
  • Install marine-grade conductors, terminals, protection devices, controls, and power-management equipment.
  • Read wiring diagrams and create accurate system notes for repairs, upgrades, or electrical audits.
  • Follow applicable ABYC practices and manufacturer instructions for marine electrical work.

Qualifications

  • Practical AC/DC electrical diagnostic experience; marine, industrial, RV, or mobile-power experience may be considered.
  • ABYC Electrical certification is preferred; Accumar pays for approved certification training.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for mobile service across Southwest Florida.
  • Ability to work safely aboard customer vessels, including confined machinery spaces when the assignment requires it.
  • Professional communication, accurate job notes, and respect for customer vessels and marina rules.

Experience

Practical electrical service and diagnostic experience is required for independent assignments. Marine-specific experience is preferred, with training available for strong transferable candidates.

Education

No specific degree is required. Relevant technical training and demonstrated ability are evaluated for the role.

Schedule and Compensation

Full-time, year-round work. Service operations normally run Monday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with individual schedules coordinated around customer vessel appointments.

This is a W-2, daily-rate position. The actual rate is discussed on the first call and is based on verified experience, certifications, and demonstrated technical skill.
